Welcome to The Folly @ The Folly
The 2009 party
Well, what a day! The sun shone, the island was a picture and loads of people came along to create a fantastic atmosphere. We had stallholders and entertainers, a face painter and jugglers, games and competitions, food and music. Steve Ball's Drumnasium got everybody banging away. Adrian Foster was a worthy scalextric champ (until beaten by the odd 12 year-old).
Jugglers juggled and the book/produce stall nearly sold out. The barbecue and the curry servers were kept busy all afternoon.
There were over 50 prizes in our adult raffle and lots in our children's tombola. Our celebrity (Luke Roberts aka Joseph Byrne from Holby City) assisted with the auction of the Porsche Driving Experience at the Porsche Centre, Silverstone and the narrowboat trip.
Heartfelt thanks are due to Simon and Sally from The Old Barge for letting us use their carpark and their kitchen for the day. Special thanks too to Sarah for all the work she did liaising with Folly Island residents. The upshot was the fabulous decorations throughout the island. Also, Nigel for the fantastic curries.
And in no particular order, thanks to Youssouf and Jan, Neil and Judy, Steve and Dave for the music (and, of course all the musicians), Adrian for the publicity and the scalextric, Ann, Paul and Chris for the barbecue, Ellie for the face painting, and last but certainly not least, the Guinn family for the balloon race and their special children's stall.
And thanks to all the Folly Island residents who put up bunting, decorated their houses and set up stalls in their gardens. It would not have been the same without you.
And really finally, thanks to everybody who came along and helped our fundraising total exceed £3,000. Yes, £3,000.
